ABOUT THE BOOK:-
“How’s Your Faith?” is a book about my efforts—as a father, a husband, and a journalist in the public eye—to understand and deepen my spirituality. It’s a story that probes other religions, not just my own, to answer important questions about who we want to be and what we believe.
I grew up with a sense of Jewish identity but without real belief. And then I got on the bus as an adult to take this spiritual journey, and discovered how many people were already on board. I was first inspired to explore my spirituality by my Christian wife, as we set out to raise our family with strong religious values.
As a journalist, I was open to this exploration, and I found that I was developing an answer to the question that President George W. Bush asked me, when I was a reporter covering his White House. “Gregory, how’s your faith?” he said, and that question became the title of this book.
In the writing of this book, I’ve realized how many of us share the pursuit of meaning and purpose in life. I’ve met wonderful new people. They have shown me the benefit of provoking conversations about faith, especially among people who may not all share the same answer. I’ve spent years listening to them and trying to understand what it is about faith that inspires me. And when I lost my job, that tested my faith like nothing ever before.
I hope this book will inspire others to discover a fuller spiritual life. If I can do it, others can too.
